Long Time...No Card

It has been awhile since I have been able to make some cards.  There has been a lot going on in our family including and 2 night stay in the hospital.  But do not worry everyone is great and healthy now.  So I am trying to get back into a routine of making cards.

I was asked by one of my co-workers to make a card for another co-worker who had just been released to go home after having a double mastectomy.  I did struggle with what saying to use but decided "Sending You Happy Thoughts" was a fitting choice.  I made an easel card to with Challenge #52 on the Sew Many Cards blog.  I designed the card to be very large so their was plenty room for many signatures and wishes.  The final size of the front of the card was about 8 1/2 by 11.  It was dark when I finished so the pictures are not that great, but they will work.

Here is a close up of the saying where I stamped all the butterflies and flowers, then I added flock to the flowers and glitter to the butterflies.

The card was loved by everyone that signed and hopefully it will be displayed and make someones day.  Thanks for stopping by.

Monday Part Two

I promised two challenges for today so here is the second.  The challenge is from Get Sketchy Card Challenges and here is the sketch to follow.

And this is my creation:

I like that it is just a universal card with no saying that you can fill out for any event or occasion.  Thanks for stopping by again.

Another Monday and Two Challenges (second coming later today)

I think the clean and simple cards are going to be my favorite to make.  I just love when things are neat and tidy and love how the cards look when they are done.  That is why I was so excited for the challenge on Cleary iStamp, the challenge for CIC25 is:
CAS or Clean and Simple Challenge
CAS is defined as a clean look with minimal layering and embellishments.

This is my creation:

I just love the saying for the inside of this card I think it is very fitting for a birthday.  Hope you all enjoyed it and join in on the challenge you still have time to post.

Hambo Hoedown #10

This week has been a crazy week and a hot and humid weekend.  The good news is that we are all finally feeling better and back to normal around here.  This week on the Hambo Hoedown blog the challenge is:

"Today's challenge is brought to you by Penguin Bunny! It's Easter Time! Penguin Bunny is all decked out ready to deliver his pretty egg to someone special! Challenge: Using Penguin Bunny, make an EASEL card."

This challenge gave me some trouble, but after a few cards I got the hang of the easel making part.  Then my next problem was I just didn't like how any of the cards turned out.  So in the end I finally decided to make a clean and simple card for my daughter to give to one of her girlfriends at school.  Hope you like Penguin Bunny!

The stamp is Penguin Bunny from Hambo, the clouds are the nestabilities labels # 6, the fence and tree are from the new stamp of the month "Houses4us" from The {Stamps} of Life.

One more!!!

O.K. This will be the last one for today.  I had one last challenge that I wanted to get done and now I should really get some housework done since I am feeling better.  This challenge is on the 4 Crafty Chicks blog, and I started to make 2 other cards before deciding on this one. They have a recipe challenge this week and it called for 1 ribbon, 2 pattern papers, and 3 buttons.

For my card I used my new stamp of the month from The {Stamps} of Life.  I just love these stamps!  I used two pattern papers, but for one of them I cut out part of the repeating pattern and used just that part.  For my 3 buttons I used little white buttons and put them as the smoke from my house's chimney.  So cute!!!

I hope you enjoyed this last card for today and now I am off to see my second husband-the washing machine.

Hambo Hoedown

My first digital stamp!!!!  I came across the Hambo Hoedown blog and if you participate in the challenges they email you out a digital stamp for the next week's challenge.  If you don't have the stamp for the week you can use any Hambo design to get started.  I have used the Cool Cat design, along with the rest of the challenge to use hot pink and bright green.  The challenge is to make a Spring card, but here in Minnesota it is hard to think about Spring when the weatherman seems to talk about snow still.  UGH!!!  But onto the card....I had a copy cat with me when I was making this card and so I will show you both.

My card...I didn't have any really bright green but I did have this paper.  It is covered in glitter (which is sort of hard to see in the photo), but sparkle is better.  I colored the cat with my Copics and I also added the flower brads to bring out the yellow in the DP and really think Spring.

Here is Aubrey's (my 6 year old) card...The newest cardmaker in training.

 The back of our cards...

Thanks for looking and I hope you enjoyed both cards!!

I think I am addicted

I think I have became addicted to challenges!!!!  I am on day 2 of being home from work sick.  I am feeling pretty good today, but my 6 year old is still fighting the runny nose and fever.  I have been cruising around on different sites and have found a bunch of challenges, and now I think I have been addicted.  I found a color challenge at Picture Perfect Creations and thought I would give it a try.  This is the color combination to use:

And this is what I created:

I love the girly-ness to it (if that is a word-LOL).  The inside of the card says, "Laughter is a gift everyone should open."  I think it will make a great little birthday card.

Thanks for looking and and hope everyone has a great day.  I am going to try to get in a few more challenges today to you might see more from me.
